The Stephen Holston Chapter supports the National SAR's Arthur M. & Berdena King Eagle Scout Scholarship program through it's Leonard R. Hill Eagle Scout Award.  This Chapter award is a $100.00 U.S. Savings Bond given to the outstanding applicant from the Great Smoky Mountain Council.  Applications are due to the chairman in late December of each year.  Specific information can be obtained from the chairman by using the "Contact Us" tab to the right.

The Hill winner competes at the Tennessee SAR level for the Scobey Rogers, Jr.  Eagle Scout Scholarship prize of $500.00.  The Tennessee SAR state winner vies for one of three King Scholarships - $8,000 (1st), $4,000 (2nd), and $2,000 (3rd).
Details about eligibility and the application package can be found from the
Youth Programs webpage.

The Chapter believes that those who achieve the rank of Eagle Scout share its members' belief in the principles of patriotism and American heritage and deserve special recognition.  Only one Great Smoky Mountain Council Eagle Scout can receive the Hill Eagle Scout Prize, but all receive a Certificae of Recognition.  Since support began in the 1990s, the Chapter has provided over 2,000 certificates to local Eagle Scouts.  There is no need to apply for a certificate - thanks to the outstanding support of the BSA, certificates for each new Eagle Scout are provided monthly to the Council  coordinators, who give them to District Executives for dissemination to the troops and their Eagle Scouts.
